Mobile Science Laboratory - the UK's first mobile metal science lab

The ExplorerLAB™, is a Mobile Science Lab providing a portable teaching platform to deliver interactive, hands-on and experimental learning for biology, chemistry and physics.

The ExplorerLAB™ has been designed to make optimum use of space, whilst providing an effective working area for experimentation and demonstration, alongside comprehensive storage and safe equipment charging facilities.

The ExplorerLAB™ offers an opportunity for hands-on science experiments within any classroom. This Mobile Science Investigation Lab offers a truly unique teaching platform to schools without dedicated laboratory facilities.

Construction

The Mobile Science Lab is a fully welded chassis manufactured in recycled steel. All manufacture conforms to ISO 9001 : 2008 specifications.

The chassis construction provides a strong, secure unit which has been built to conform to British safety standards. The unit has been CE and SASO certified. Particular attention has been payed to ensure that the unit provides resistance to corrosion and rust, which could occur from the result of a chemical spill.

Easily moved from classroom to classroom by means of four large castors situated at the base of the unit, two of the castors are lockable to ensure that the unit remains static whilst in use or storage.

The unit dimensions are as follows: 1450mm long x 610mm wide x 920mm high overall.

Work Area

The ExplorerLAB™ Mobile Science Lab has a working area made from an extremely durable chemical resistant surface, which is ideal for demonstrating scientific investigations.

The working area can be extended to approximately 1m² by lifting the collapsible top, which securely locks into position. The working area is an ideal ergonomic height for both teacher and student to use and view activities.

An integral sink and tap with electronic pump is provided for convenient access to water and disposal of waste liquid. The ExplorerLAB™ carries five litres of clean water and has the capacity to store up to five litres of waste liquid. Both containers are easily accessible to the teacher via a dedicated lockable door.

Storage and Equipment

• Storage and charging for up to five netbooks or similar devices using the unique LapSafe® Ultra Safe SmartLine™ charging technology. • The interchangeable storage area carries up to 8 x 75mm trays and 1 x 150mm deep tray. This area is specifically designed to store investigative equipment and other subject specific equipment for interactive hands-on learning.
• Four drawers are supplied to store high quality scientific glassware. Each drawer is fitted with protective foam inserts, cut to support and protect the glassware.
• Specific in-door storage is provided for test tubes, pippets and an airpump.
• The accessory drawer beneath the ExplorerLAB™ provides safe storage for safety goggles, latex gloves and tissues included with the mobile lab.

Presentation Area

The ExplorerLAB™ Mobile Science Lab provides the facilities needed to deliver multimedia presentations, such as a fully adjustable twin platform support for a laptop and projector, electrical power sockets and effective cable management.
