Pupils at Ridgeway Infant School in Littleover, Derby, are celebrating after winning £6,500 of ICT equipment in a free prize draw held at a major national education exhibition.
Education IT solutions specialist, and authorised reseller of LapSafe® Products, XMA, picked out Ridgeway from over 300 entries at the 2011 BETT Show in London. The lucky pupils bagged a complete ‘mobile classroom’, comprising 10 x Toshiba NB250 netbooks, a Promethean interactive whiteboard, complete with moveable stand, and a Lapsafe® laptop charging trolley.
Teacher, Melissa Harrison, who entered the competition, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled! I never in a million years expected to win. The children have never had access to netbooks or laptops in school before, so this will make a huge difference to them.”
Jason Hall, Marketing Manager at LapSafe® Products, went along to the Ridgeway Infant School to present the goodies. He said: “It was brilliant to see just how happy the pupils and staff were to receive their prize. I know the school will get a lot of use out of their new mobile classroom.”
XMA’s Tim Beech, said: “We’re delighted to be giving away such a fabulous prize. The mobile classroom is a very useful addition to any school as it enables any space to be turned into a learning environment. I’m sure the children will have lots of fun too!”
Over 250 pupils between the ages of five and seven attend the school, which is on Uplands Road in Littleover, Derby. Melissa added: “The prize will really help to support teaching and learning across all subjects, and, because the ‘classroom’ is mobile, all of our pupils will be able to benefit.”
