The future of ICT in schools

Recent research through innovative projects such as Wolverhampton’s Learning2go (www.learning2go.org/) tell us that the use of mobile technologies allowing anytime, anywhere learning is rapidly becoming the way forward.

Jim Knight MP Minister of State for Schools and Learning believes that we need to “transform IT in terms of the curriculum to match students’ experience outside school.” That we need to have a better understanding of their (the students’) world and how they use ICT.

Tim Byles Chief Executive for Partnership for Schools believes that we need to understand all learners’ (students, teachers and the community) use of technology. He suggests that through BSF we need to consider building creative engaging spaces allowing the use of IT across the curriculum throughout the day.

All of this means that we need to help to find solutions for our schools that will allow them to be flexible, or to coin a new buzz word ‘AGILE’ in terms of being able to meet the changing demands placed on schools by ever changing technologies.
