Remotely accessing laptops can save time, money and valuable resources. It can give IT departments greater flexibility when loading or upgrading software, and can provide teaching staff with the ability to send data to multiple users via the college's own network.

The remote access functionality can run over a single LAN or on different LAN segments, allowing communication between various locations - important on campus where buildings are often situated some distance apart. The Data Transfer Module, which is available for the Smartline S™ and ChargeLine™ S, allows data to be uploaded or downloaded to each laptop housed in that module.

'Power on' or 'power off' can also be controlled remotely from any Windows NT/2000/XP workstation or server using WOL

(Wake On LAN).
