The Client
Woodchurch High School has been judged as ‘Excellent’, 1999, ‘Outstanding’, 2005, ‘Outstanding, with no key issues’, 2008.
In its latest report (March 2008) Inspectors stated that ‘Woodchurch High School provides an outstanding quality of education for its pupils. It has significant strengths across all areas but especially in the outstanding achievement of its pupils, their excellent personal development, and the exceptional provision for their well-being, care and guidance”. They also highlighted that results in ICT are particularly good and well developed ICT skills prepare students effectively for the next stage of their lives.
Using LapSafe®
At Woodchurch they have been using 13 Mentor™ SmartLine™ Secure Storage and Recharging Cabinets from LapSafe® Products to manage a very large number of laptops. This has been a highly effective way of ensuring access to ICT facilities in classrooms across the school and has given teachers and students the flexibility to use IT to enhance learning and teaching across the curriculum.
The Future
Last year the school found out it had been selected as a Pathfinder School for Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Programme. This is part of the Government’s £45 billion investment in Secondary schools across England. By 2010 staff and students will have a completely new school building, which will provide state of the art facilities to be used by the school and the local community.
By being part of the BSF programme about 10% of the total budget for the new build will be invested in ICT. ICT technician, Keith Saville said ‘We have been really pleased with our Mentor™ cabinets and will be looking to use LapSafe® Products to help meet our future needs.’
