ICT a core subject in the Primary Curriculum?
11.05.2009
In the Independent Review of the Primary Curriculum Sir Jim Rose recommends that ICT becomes a core subject alongside English, Maths and Science from September 2011. “Embedding ICT throughout the curriculum and giving it greater prominence within the core of ‘Essentials for Learning and Life’ will provide children with more opportunities to harness the potential of technology to enhance learning.”
In Recommendation 12 the report sets out that the DCFS should work with Becta and the QCA to look at the support teachers will need to “meet the raised expectations of children’s ICT capabilities and use of technology to enrich learning.”
