Government’s Harnessing Technology strategy
29.05.2009
Every year Becta commissions a major survey of schools to look at progress towards the aims of the Government’s Harnessing Technology strategy.
These are some of the key findings for this year:
* Clear evidence that good ICT facilities continue to be rolled out
* Personalisation is a priority -‘improved personalised learning now features prominently in the
thinking within our schools’
* Increasing numbers of teachers (especially secondary) view ICT as a time saver
* Overall approximately 5% of school budgets was used for ICT
* Provision of interactive whiteboards is approaching saturation
* There has been a steady increase in use of other facilities
* The enabling infrastructure to fulfil the strategy is largely in place
* The challenge remains to fulfil the potential of learners in and out of school
