Becta’s consult on future delivery of ICT services
13.10.2009
Becta is encouraging teachers and ICT technicians to voice their opinions on the latest developments to Becta's vision for future delivery of ICT services in education.
Becta’s aim is to ensure that chosen technologies work first time, every time, for everyone, wherever and whenever they need it.
The briefing given by Becta on 17 September 2009 to ICT Services Suppliers presented the emerging findings from their consultation with schools and colleges on future ICT support requirements. Details were provided of new ICT services on offer along with Becta’s initial thinking on how this might be delivered in practice. A discussion regarding the potential future approach to accreditation and procurement to help support this followed.
As a result to a number of questions raised on the day Becta proposed a model and have begun the process of developing a set of frequently asked questions to provide clarity and further detail. The main improvements Becta whishes to achieve are:
• Better value for money
• Environmental efficiency
• Rise in the quality of core ICT systems
• Allowance for a high degree of local customisation and innovation to ICT systems.
